September 26-28

Everyone knows that the Melges 17 promises the most competitive scow racing this fall at the 2008 Melges 17 U.S. National Championship, hosted by the Lake Geneva Yacht Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on September 26-28. Last year the class saw as many as 30 teams on the line, you can bet that 2008 will be that and more! Don't miss out on this guaranteed fun, two-day event.

On Friday, plan on an enjoyable day of tuning and practice racing followed by a cocktail party at LGYC. Full-on racing begins on Saturday (September 27th) and Sunday (September 28th) with an awesome awards ceremony to follow.

2008 Melges 17 W.M.Y.A. Championship,
August 6-9

Another great Melges 17 event is just around the corner — the fantastic W.M.Y.A. (Western Michigan Yachting Association) Championship, hosted by the Grand Rapids Yacht Club on August 6-9. Four, fun-filled days are on tap for the fleet as this is THE ultimate warm-up to the 2008 Melges 17 U.S. National Championship held during late September at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club. Traditionally, this event has brought out the best in the fleet, 2008 will be exceptional with a super nationals next on the circuit. Don't miss out on this very dynamic event!

Hans Meyer Wins The 2008 Melges 17. I.L.Y.A. Championship

"It only took 90 years collectively for each of us to return to the podium as I.L.Y.A. Champions,' joked 2008 Melges 17 I.L.Y.A. Champion Hans Meyer at the awards ceremony. Hans and crew Susi Sternkopf successfully conquered this very progressive, young fleet. Speaking of youth, it was also noted that the Melges 17 won the prize for highest percentage of youth sailors competing - nearly 50%. Also, nine teams were families: husband/wife, brother/sister, and nephew/aunt. Congratulations to this awesome scow fleet!

A very special thank you goes out to all the competitors, and most especially the Pewaukee Yacht Club who once again did a spectacular job at hosting the regatta. The parties, racing and hospitality were world class!

Coye Harrett Wins 2008 Melges 17 Blue Water Regatta

The summer racing season got off to a terrific start on beautiful Crystal Lake, Mich. with Coye Harrett taking the honors at the 2008 Blue Water Regatta. Harrett raced against the best-of-the-best in the Melges 17 class including Matt Ripkey, 2006 Champion Rob Terry and Bob Heathcote in some very challenging races. Special thanks to all the teams that traveled the distance, and most especially the famous Crystal Lake Yacht Club for their unique hospitality and awesome parties!
